Free Classifieds How to Set them Up

By Alex Wu

You probably know that the local paper does not offer free classifieds. The Internet does. There are many free classified advertisement web pages on the Internet. You can post most anything there that will help sell your product or service.

You know that the people looking at your Internet classified ad are people that are interested in what you have to sell. That is why they go onto these sites. You will get better exposure and save the cost. It is a good option for many people. Even selling on E-bay you have fees this is the better way to do it.

Free advertising through these classified ads can reach a large audience. People who do not get the paper, or even if they do, often go online to look at the Classifieds for better deals, it is also an easy way to find something that is needed.

These classified websites offer local advertisements, as well as state wide, and global exposure. This is great for those of you who have a vehicle or furniture, because local is who you would want to target, if you have small items to be mailed, than you can hit a larger market, just be sure to add shipping in the final cost and let the buyer know this.

To start do a search on the Internet as if you were looking for something in the Classifieds online. Make a note of which websites come up first through third place in the results. These are the websites you would want to use to place your ads, as they will get the most exposure. You can advertise on more than one website.

Do not give out a phone number to call, people will call you all hours of the day and night. Dive an e-mail address for contact. I would create a free e-mail account just for this purpose. This will save you much grief. Place in the ad what type of payments you will accept. PayPal is my favorite, but you can take money orders and checks. I would not release the item or service until the check clears. There are scammers who use the "I will send the money once I know you have sent he product". Do not fall for that.

When you place your ad make sure it is clear, short, and gives a good brief description of what you have to offer. Adding a picture can help in some cases. Make sure that you describe you item honestly and include any flaws if there are any. A good description can mean a sale.

When you decide which free classified website to use, make sure that you read the terms of service for any fees that may not have been mentioned before, look for restrictions on the type of content they allow, and also how long you can expect your ad to run. Generally 7-10 days, some instances they can run up to 30 days. Do a bit of research, and you will find the place that is right for you. - 15615
