6 Things You Should Know Before Buying A Couch

By Steven M. Fisher

1: COLOR IS IMPORTANT.

Look for colors that express your personal style or work with colors you already have in your room because color will be the first element you respond to.

2: THE COMFORT TEST.

Once you find the couch you like, test it for comfort. Bounce up and down on the cushions. Make sure you like the feel. After all, you are the one that will be sitting on it.

3: DURABILITY.

Lift the frame and wiggle the arms. Does it feel heavy and sturdy? Do the arms hold firm indicating good workmanship?

4: FEEL.

Do you like the feel of the fabric? Are the seams straight and does the fabric line up properly? Most importantly, do you like the way it feels when you sit and relax on it?

5: PRICING.

Double check the price against other couches you have looked at. Good quality can be found in all price ranges.

6: MEASUREMENTS.

Make sure it fits, but doesn't overwhelm. Additionally, you want to make sure it isn't dwarfed by your other pieces. - 15615
