I have made a sampling of the movies released this year (2008). I have chosen a few of the motion pictures that I think you might like. I'm sure that you can find a picture or two that you will enjoy.
WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS: It was a wild night in Las Vegas. Barely remembering what had happened, Jack and Joy get up the next day and find out that they are married. When they win a $3 million jackpot, the question is who should get the money, so they ask a judge for a decision. The judge decides that they must stay together for six months, and try to make their marriage work. With lots of money at stake, they conspire to make each other quit the marriage, as they are both determined to have the cash for themselves.
IRON MAN: Weapons developer, business mogul, Tony Stark is taken hostage by Afghan fighters. He is ordered to build weapons for the insurgent group. He suffered a bad injury while he was being captured, and he has shrapnel lodged in his chest. To live through this life threatening wound, and get away from the rebels, he develops a suit of armor, that makes him super strong. We have a new comic book super hero on the scene.
HAMLET 2: Dana Marshz, formerly a small time actor, now finds himself teaching high school theatre to uninterested students. When the high school loses a major building, the school board figures the after curriculum will be what is dropped. Now fully motivated, he sets out to keep the school from dropping his classes by producing Hamlet 2, a new version of the classic, which he put to paper himself.
THE DARK KNIGHT: Batman, along with Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, are on a mission to clean up Gotham City. This has effectively reduced crime, but now a new super criminal arrives on the scene, and starts a crime spree. Batman has his work cut out him now, as criminal mastermind, the Joker, has released an overwhelming assault on Gotham City.
TROPIC THUNDER: With a star studded cast we soon see this movie is a parody of recent war movies. To get better results from his underachieving super stars to make a first rate war movie, the now venturesome director into the wild, and leaves them there by themselves. He hopes to frighten them so they will produce a work of genius, which will be caught on hidden cameras in the area. Unbelievably, as the director dies unexpectedly by stepping on a real land mine, the spoiled actors are on their own, and they start acting, thinking it's a big set, but things are getting very, very real. Written, directed, and acted in, by Ben Stiller.
WALL-E: This picture is an animated, comedy, adventure, sci-fi. Earth has been left behind, an uninhabitable wasteland. Waste removal robot, Wall-E, has been left to continue cleaning. When a recon bot (Eve) appears, checking for any signs of life, Wall-E finally has some company. When Eve is retrieved by the spaceship that sent her, Wall-E stows away, and begins an exciting new life.
Jumper: During a near death experience, David Rice discovers he has an unbelievable ability. He has the ability to transport himself anywhere, anytime. He then comes to learn that he is not alone in having this capability. After years of "jumping" around the planet, he is exposed to hunters that think jumpers are a threat, and need to be eliminated. Now he is in a fight for survival, as those people believe he should die.
THE CHRONICALS OF NARNIA, PRINCE CASPIAN: Just one year has passed in there "regular" lives, when Edmund, Peter, Susan, and Lucy are mysteriously pulled back into Narnia. Prince Caspian has blown Susan's magic horn, hoping to be saved. In their one year at home, centuries have passed in Narnia, but the four legendary characters have be summoned back to save Narnia from the evil Telmarines. With the aid of the brave warriors of Narnia, they conquer their foes and free Narnia.
ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO: The bills aren't getting paid and Zack and Miri, roommates and good friends, are desperate to make some money. What will they do? Oh, that's easy, make a porno. As you might expect this a perfect environment for a funny film.
