Capture Your Readers With A Tantalizing Web Posting

By Don Bethune

A blog's entire purpose is to share text information that hopefully a large number of people will loyally read. The problem is that so many people are trying the same thing by posting blogs. It can be difficult to stand above the crowd of so many blogs. How do you maintain the interest of the readers?

Most of the time visitors just scan the blog for any points that catch their attention than reading the entire blog. So the main goal when writing a goal becomes to catch the attention of the visitor in the first few seconds so that they continue to read the entire blog. Given below are few helpful points to keep in mind when writing a blog post.

Grab the attention of the visitor: The first approach is to write small two or three sentence paragraphs divided into sections with bold section headings. The visible section headings will make it easy for the visitor to get an idea of the entire writing and then select the section he is most interested in. This way they would decide whether to read or not a blog. So keep the section headings crisp and attention grabbing.

When is the last time you looked for an interesting illustration or photo to go with your blog posting? Even an odd looking illustration will force the reader to pause and ingest this information. Capture their attention with the image, and they may stay to read your blog to learn more.

Make it easier with bullets: Bulleted lists are a useful technique to convey your ideas in a concise manner. They allow presenting your ideas in a manner which helps to read and understand quickly. It also forces the visitor to look at the specific content as the bulleted lists stand out in a blog. Bulleted list will definitely increase the possibility that a visitor will read a blog

Build the article and then craft the title: It seems obvious but the title really needs to be the distillation of the article. Its much easier to pen the attention getting headline title after you have completed the entire thought of the article and it is still fresh in your mind.

Startle the browser by being controversial on your subject title. By going against the flow of the normal brain process gives you a chance to be above the storm of blogs. Be prepared to substantiate what your title says or you will lose readers.

Why let the reader walk away? Get them to blog through comments on your blog: Make an inquiry at the end of your blog post that simply motivates a blog reader to respond through further questions or comments by their blog responses. Simple hooks that keeps the reader participating in your blog by posting related information from their experiences will only increase the value of your blog website. - 15615
