Growing Popularity of Pink Acoustic Guitars

By Jay Tyler

You might be a bit taken aback if your tween daughter has been pleading with you to get a pink acoustic guitar. You probably associate guitars with moody teenage boys, not young girls who used to pretend to be princesses and play dress-up just a few years ago. You will probably think it best to buy an inexpensive guitar in case your little girl loses interest. However, before you let her give it up, you should try and encourage her to keep at it.

You've probably seen the TV show, Hannah Montana, which depicts a young girl who has attained status as a rock star. This is probably just one of the many reasons that it has become trendy for young women today to become musicians. There are many pluses and minuses when it comes to young girls yearning to become famous. But, as parents you can take what otherwise might just be a passing phase and use that pink acoustic guitar and turn it into a important and enduring passion.

Girls today have to deal with so many pressures from society. There are pressures pertaining to body image, pressures from peers to become sexually active as well as, academic pressures at school. A creative outlet, such as playing guitar can be very helpful. In general, girls tend to focus their emotions inward, which can be a bad thing. Channeling their emotions would be a better way, but this needs to be encouraged, even if it is negative. Guitar playing can help with this process by getting a young girl to let out her feelings, but still have them be private.

Even in the solitude of her own space your daughter can release her emotions in a creative way and express herself. And this can be a very good thing, as we all know as parents, the teenage years can be a bit hectic. Her guitar songs are hers alone, and she does not have to share them with anyone. Parents can gain insight into what their daughter is going through that she may not normally mention by encouraging her to perform, even if it is just for the family after dinner.

Before you buy a guitar for your child there are a few things you should think about. First, don't just buy the cheapest guitar you can find. Her first guitar, even if it is a pink acoustic guitar, should not be bought in the toy section of your local discount store. Even an experienced guitarist would have a problem playing a cheap instrument. So find a music store in your area. Make her first guitar a good experience.

There are several great guitars that hold a special visual allure for girls. Daisy Rock is a popular company that focuses on making guitars with girls in mind. They are not called The Girl Guitar Company for nothing. Daisy Rock carries everything from simple pink acoustic guitars to heart-shaped guitars and ones that come in the shapes of stars or butterflies.

Rather than making your little girls first guitar a surprise gift, take her to the store with you when you shop for it. Each guitar is a little bit different so each pink acoustic guitar is not made in the same way. By allowing your daughter to choose her own guitar, she will get the one that feels best in her hands and the one that sounds just right to her and it will earn a special place in her heart. - 15615
